- Histology Air Purification Unit improves air quality in your lab and helps to minimize hazardous fumes to your employee
- UL listed filter containing 50% Activated Carbon to remove Xylene and 50% Activated alumina impregnated with Potassium Permanganate to remove formaldehyde
- Filters are ULTested and are Class 2 approvedFormalin and Formaldehyde have a very low Permissible Exposure Level of 0.75ppm over an 8 hour day and a very low STEL of 2ppm per OSHA 1910.1048 c1 and c2
- A normal person can smell formaldehyde at 0.8ppm, Histologists and Pathologists lose sensitivity to formalin over time so if they can smell it – you are probably being over exposed
- Histology Labs and Morgues also tend to be placed in the basements – Xylene has a vapor density of 3.66 (air=1) so xylene vapor tends to collect in lower areas and if you are already on the bottom floor, there is nowhere for it to go
- In today’s lab there has been a push to use Odorless Xylene replacements which can be even more hazardous -carcinogenic and mutagenic with similar vapor densities ranging from 3-4
